Mike Quick and Harold Carmichael, one an Eagles radio broadcaster and the other the team’s director of player development and alumni, are regular observers of practice. Carmichael, in fact, is at almost every one, helping out with various chores, including placing the football on the line of scrimmage.
So the two Eagles greats have watched their share of postretirement practices. But there was one moment during Tuesday’s practice that possibly only a former NFL receiver could appreciate.
Jason Avant was faced up against Trevard Lindley during a passing drill. Avant ran 5 yards downfield and put a move on the rookie cornerback that almost completely spun him around.
The pass didn’t even go to Avant, but Quick noticed him place what he called a “stick” move on Lindley.
“Woooooooo. Wooooooo. Did you see that, Harold?” Quick, 51, called out from the sideline.
The 60-year-old Carmichael was doing a little strut when he heard his long-ago teammate – the two played together in 1982-83 – and responded.”
