December 21 Camden Courier-Post:
“Jason Avant became the latest Eagles player to sustain a concussion, although he may not miss Sunday night’s home game against the Vikings.
Avant felt dizzy after the pancake block on Giants long snapper Zak DeOssie that helped spring DeSean Jackson’s winning punt return for a touchdown in the Eagles’ 38-31 win Sunday.
Head coach Andy Reid said Avant didn’t have headaches or lingering symptoms on the bus ride home — Avant even spoke to the media for several minutes after the game.
But Avant will have to pass all of the team and NFL-mandated concussions tests before his is cleared to play.
If Avant can’t play, his snaps will be shared by rookies Riley Cooper and Chad Hall.
Avant joins guard Jackson, Cooper, Max Jean-Gilles, quarterback Kevin Kolb, linebacker Stewart Bradley, cornerback Asante Samuel on the list of Eagles who have sustained concussions this season. Defensive tackle Antonio Dixon had one in training camp.
Other injuries include Nate Allen’s season-ending patellar tendon rupture and knee soreness for defensive tackle Mike Patterson.
Patterson is expected to have an MRI today on his knee but Reid didn’t seem overly concerned.”
