Despite losing his starting job last season and now being as unwanted as a case of the itch the night after a date, Brodrick Bunkley didn’t want to leave Philadelphia.
That’s the only thing that can explain right now his refusal to show up in Cleveland, where the Eagles had just traded him.
So with him not being there to take the Browns physical, the trade was never officially consummated. That doesn’t mean he’s back to being an Eagle, though. Instead, the team have shipped Bunkley out to the Denver Broncos for an as yet undisclosed draft pick in 2013.
“I think that he enjoyed it a lot here,” general manager Howie Roseman said regarding Bunkley, via csnphilly. “I think part of the reason is that this is all a shock to him. He was a first-round pick. I think he thought he’d be here for his whole career. I think he likes part of the energy that’s going on here right now and wanted to be a part of it. It’s a transition.”
With that level of condescending and oily executive-speak, Howie better hope Bunk is on a plane to Denver and not waiting for him in the Novacare complex.
