“Nick Cole is still the team’s starting center if Jamaal Jackson isn’t ready by the Sept. 12 season opener.
Despite the lineman’s struggles this week with the snap exchange, which prompted some extra work with Kevin Kolb on the sideline, coach Andy Reid shrugged off Cole’s rough week and doesn’t plan to demote the fourth-year lineman.
“I’m fine with Nick. All those linemen are banged up a little bit, just physically, and you’re going to go through a day like that,” Eagles coach Andy Reid said. “Your center is going to have a day where a ball or two gets on the ground and that just happens between him and the quarterback and you have to figure out the problem.
“So that’s the important part, and he did that and he and Kevin are back on the same page.”
Cole is the front-runner if there’s a void left by Jackson, who underwent surgery on the knee ligament he tore in December. Jackson hasn’t practiced during camp and isn’t expected on the field before camp ends.”
