With the August 9 reporting deadline for earning a year of credit towards unrestricted free agency looming, DeSean Jackson has decided to end his holdout and show up for Eagles training camp.
DeSean flew into Philly Sunday night and showed up Monday morning for his physical. The fact that his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, flew in as well means they plan on negotiating immediately.
And while Rosenhaus is busy trying to add extra zeros to Jackson’s checks, the big play wideout will finally start practicing.
“I’ll be out there,” DeSean said when asked about practicing today.
It’s great news. Staring at the possibility of losing a chance at unrestriced free agency next year, Jackson and Rosenhaus decided to give up their only leverage and show up. The Eagles front office have always had the policy of not negotiating with holdouts, which was recently backed up in comments by owner Jeffrey Lurie.
With Jackson in camp Rosenhaus can finally begin the process of finding a fair deal for the diminutive gamebreaker. Hopefully the Eagles follow through quickly on their promise to take care of him once he shows up.
