“The Eagles aren’t panicked after star receiver DeSean Jackson left Saturday’s afternoon practice on a cart after injuring his back during a routine drill.
The team described the injury as minor, but didn’t indicate if the All-Pro wideout and punt returner would be able to practice today.
The injury occurred during a non-contact drill after Jackson caught a pass in stride between linebacker Omar Gaither and cornerback Asante Samuel. He stayed down on the grass for a few minutes, eventually hobbled to his feet and left the field on the cart.
Coach Andy Reid had hoped to avoid injuries early in camp. The afternoon practice called for shorts and shells, after a relatively light morning practice in pads. The team went “live” — full tackling — for just a short period in the morning, and Reid mainly called safe running plays up the middle.”
