Sal Paolantonio is reporting that the Eagles and first round pick DE Brandon Graham are far apart in contract negotiations, and that the former Michigan star may not be signed in time for the start of Training Camp on Monday, July 26th.
Graham is expected to compete from Day 1 for a starter’s spot across from Trent Cole. Veteran Juqua Parker, the incumbent starter, will be the as yet unsigned rookie’s biggest competition for the job.
League sources describe the negotiations between Eagles GM Howie Roseman and Graham’s agent Joel Segal as in “early conversations”.
The 13th pick in the draft, acquired by the Eagles trading multiple draft picks, Graham is expected to get almost $15 million in signing bonus alone.
Nate Allen, the Eagles 2nd round pick and the player obtained with the “Donovan McNabb pick”, also remains unsigned. The FS from South Florida has already been penciled in as a starter. A holdout may change those plans.
