The Eagles have announced that on Monday defensive end Trent Cole underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow. It is being a called a debridement, or a removal of dead or damaged tissue. Procedures like this usually occur when a person has a stiff or arthritic joint.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Michael Ciccotti of the Rothman Institute at the Thomas Jefferson Surgical Center at the Navy Yards in South Philadelphia.
Surgery was deemed a success, and Cole should be fully healed within 6-8 weeks. This means he would really only miss offseason team activities if the league locks out the players in March.
Cole posted 10 sacks in 2010 and was named a Pro Bowl alternate.
