October 13 Philadelphia Inquirer:
“The Eagles appear likely to activate rookie defensive tackle Jeff Owens, a seventh-round draft pick who has been on the practice squad.
Owens indicated as much on his Twitter account, though there was no official word from the team Tuesday.
“Just found out that I will be playing on Sunday!!!! #ThankYouJesus!!!!!!” Owens wrote on Twitter.
Owens would add depth after the team lost starting defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley to an elbow injury on Sunday against the 49ers. Bunkley could be out for year.
Owens is a 6-foot-1, 304-pound rookie the Eagles drafted out of Georgia. He was released at the end of training camp but signed to the practice squad.
The Eagles also worked out wide receiver Kelley Washington, according to a league source. Washington was one of the team’s tougher cuts after being with the Eagles through most of training camp. He could provide another option as a fourth or fifth wide receiver, especially if Riley Cooper remains sidelined, and might bolster the team’s struggling kick and punt coverage.”
