While waiting for season to start, Birds practice and do good works

“On a beautiful Friday evening during the ongoing NFL lockout, a handful of Eagles were back together along the banks of the Schuylkill for a gala supporting DeSean Jackson’s foundation for fighting pancreatic cancer.  It was a charitable and friendly event at the Water Works Restaurant. Next week, though, some of them plan to get back together for work.

“Brent Celek was working his phone last night as he prepared to enter DeSean Jackson’s charity gala, to benefit pancreatic cancer research. Tight end Celek was trying to secure a field for this coming week, where Eagles quarterback Michael Vick could throw to his receivers, as the Birds remain idled by the NFL lockout.

“Jackson has done several interviews this week, promoting his gala tonight that will raise funds for pancreatic cancer research.  Yesterday, he was on with Jon Marks and Dan Schwartzman of 97.5 The Fanatic. Jackson touched on several topics: how he supports Kevin Kolb and feels for him; how Michael Vick has become like a big brother to; how his Mom monitors his Twitter account; and so on.

Eagles a fit for Haynesworth?

“There are few bigger uncertainties in the NFL than the Redskins’ plan for Albert Haynesworth.  For now, the Redskins appear content to hold on to Haynesworth and whatever value he still holds when player transactions are allowed. Of course, there’s no sure thing, and many wouldn’t be shocked if the much-maligned Haynesworth has taken his last snap for the Redskins.
