Patterson returns to Eagles training camp

August 6 CSN Philly

Defensive tackle Mike Patterson rejoined the Eagles at Lehigh University Friday afternoon, just two days after suffering a seizure that the team has said was caused by a blood vessel irregularity in his brain – a brain AVM.  Patterson’s agent J.R. Rickert said he expects the 27-year-old defensive tackle to be cleared soon to resume football activities, but the Eagles aren’t nearly as optimistic.  “He is scheduled to see a neurologist in Philadelphia in the next day or so,” Rickert said in a statement he posted on his website.

What a difference a day makes in the health situation of Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson, who now — his agent attests — could soon rejoin the team.  Eagles representatives, who have preferred not to speculate on Patterson’s immediate and long-term future, rejected that notion Friday — when Patterson was released from Lehigh Valley Hospital and visited the locker room before the afternoon practice.

The idea is for the Eagles’ new-look defense to create confusion. And that was certainly the case Friday, the first day the team’s celebrated free agents were able to take part in training-camp drills.  “Everyone’s talking to me, it seems, in the middle of the play: ‘You’re doing this,’ ” said cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, the most decorated of the newcomers. “I have to figure it all out.”

I want to be here. I want to play for (Eagles coach) Andy (Reid) throughout the rest of my career. And we’ll just see how it goes.”

Mike Vick angered by Rob Ryan’s comments: ‘I hope he backs it up’

August 6 Dallas Morning News

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mike Vick admitted Friday that Rob Ryan’s comments from earlier in the week made him mad. The superstar athlete was offended by what he interpreted as the Cowboys defensive coordinator taking a shot at his team.  “I was mad about that,” Vick said during an interview on Philadelphia’s 97.5 The Fanatic (WPEN-FM). “Sometimes my emotions do come into play and I felt like that was inappropriate. But he’s going to have to deal with us. And he’s going to have to find solutions just like everybody else.”

Rookie kicking tandem to play large role for Eagles

August 5 CSN Philly

Forget the Pro Bowl cornerbacks the Eagles have brought in. Forget the stud defensive linemen and the vaunted new coaches and all the other blockbuster additions.  Two of the most important newcomers at Lehigh University this summer aren’t very big and aren’t very fast. If you watch practice, you might not even notice them.  Meet Alex Henery and punter Chas Henry.
