Eagles TE Cornelius Ingram

Eagles TE Cornelius Ingram

By Justin Adkins:

It’s there and back again for Eagles tight end Cornelius Ingram

The oft-injured pass catcher has signed a reserve/future contract with the team, along with fellow tight end John Nalbone and wide reciever Jeremy Williams.

Ingram, originally a 2009 fifth-round pick out of Florida, has suffered two torn ACL’s in the same knee, one costing him his senior season, one his rookie year with the Eagles.  Ingram and the Eagles actually condsidered the second tear a relatively positive development in that it allowed the knee to be better reconstructed after finding the original repair inadequate.

Unfortunately, during this past year’s training camp he continued to experience pain and swelling in the knee and was released prior to the season.  Ingram was eventually signing to the practice squad, but was later released yet again during a round of roster shuffling during the season.

The athletic specimen seems confident that his knee concerns are behind him.

“No problems while I was out there on the practice squad. I feel good, going into the off season I’m able to do everything, and I’m able to start from scratch with everybody else.”

John Nalbone, a Trenton native, was most recently a member of the Broncos practice squad after originally seeing time with the Miami Dolphins.

Like Ingram, Jeremy Williams is another familiar face at the NovaCare complex, as he spent most of the 2009 and all of the 2010 season on the Eagles practice squad.

Signing players to offseason reserve/future contracts is a regular occurrence around the league, with most only brought in to help stockpile potential camp bodies.

If Ingram can somehow regain his speed and explosiveness, he could be much more.

The Eagles also recently signed C A.Q. Shipley, OG Dallas Reynolds, WR Rod Harper, and WR Sinorice Moss, all to reserve/future contracts.  These are camp bodies at best, though Moss’ skill set is intriguing.  His injury history is not, which is they the Giants finally dumped him this past November.

Shipley, Reynolds, and Harper had all been on the Eagles practice squad at season’s end.
