The Lehigh Valley is seeing a sight not many would expect – the tents, bleachers, and general activity associated with the setup of another Eagles training camp. In a great sign that the ridiculous argument between millionaire players and billionaire owners is finally coming to a close, the Eagles are moving forward with their regular plans for training camp at Lehigh University.
“It’s just them making preparations on their end,” said Lehigh spokesman Steve Lomangino, via LehighValleyLive.com. “It’s the Eagles being proactive.”
It’s actually the Eagles right now that are managing the work process, not Lehigh.
“We’re trying to be as prepared as possible in the event we go to Lehigh for training camp,” Eagles spokesman Derek Boyko said.
This is the normal timeframe for work to begin on camp, and while the Eagles aren’t exactly admitting everything is good to go, things look better than they did just a few weeks ago.
Lomangino sounds skeptically hopeful things will continue to go smoothly.
“It’s not like this thing is almost over,” Lomangino said. “It’s like, ‘Let’s get the work order in and get it done. It’s easier to take it down then have to rush to put it up. Just like everyone else, we’re kind of waiting to see what’s going to happen.”
It’s great news. While the offseason has been a mess and the play in the season will most likely be compromised due to the lack of team activities, coaching, etc, it’s better than the alternative.
