The Eagles season has come full circle. After starting the year playing Green Bay, the Eagles will face the Packers again in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. The game is scheduled for Sunday, January 9, at 4:30pm ET in Philadelphia. Green Bay defeated the Chicago Bears today to secure a playoff berth.
The New York Giants have been shut out and will watch the playoffs on TV.
That first Packers is game is the one that saw Kevin Kolb get knocked out with a concussion, setting the stage for Michael Vick’s unlikely comeback story.
In injury news from today, right guard Max Jean-Gilles went down with an ankle injury. No word yet on its severity. In better injury news, middle linebacker Stewart Bradley said he is “good to go” for Sunday.
The Eagles defense is going to need all the help it can get against quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. The Eagles have been struggling in pass coverage, and the explosive Green Bay offense led by Rodgers is probably anxious to play the game right now.
After today’s sloppy ‘preseason’ game, hopefully the Eagles can regain some momentum while preparing this week. If they come out as flat against the Packers as they did against the Vikings, the team will be lining up tee times with the Giants come next Monday morning.
