By Justin Adkins:
His complete smackdown of the Cowboys Sunday night has earned Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Jackson caught four passes for 210 yards, including an absolutely electrifying 91 yard catch-and-run in the 4th quarter. A run that came when Jackson says he was playing at around 60%.
That didn’t stop him from schooling the entire Cowboys defense.
That performance, along with this award, should continue to fuel the contract extension discussion that has been following Jackson since last season. His recent interview with Dumb and Dumber (aka TO and Chad Ochocinco) on their little watched talk show targeted towards the slow won’t help to slow down the rampant contract talk.
“T.O, man. I’m gonna set the bar for you, man,” Jackson said during his appearance on the TOcho Show last night. “I’m gonna try to get the most I can and I’m gonna set it high for you and I’m gonna set it high for everybody else, too. . . . They gonna have to do something, because they way I’m putting it in, something’s gotta happen, baby.”
The Eagles and Jackson have reportedly engaged in contract negotiations, but the uncertain NFL labor situation combined with Jackson and agent Drew Rosenhaus’ likely hefty demands have kept progress at a standstill.
Eagles president and notorious cap manager Joe Banner declined to comment on Jackson’s latest outburst. Hopefully Banner is instead spending time working on getting DeSean paid.
And because it never gets old:
