Devlin was asked by an Eagles security staff member to remove the jersey. Fortunately, he was wearing a T-shirt underneath.
Regardless, Devlin said he took no umbrage by the gesture.
“Not at all,” said the King of Prussia, Pa., resident. “I’m in their house or whatever. I was trying to get a reaction out of everybody else.”
Devlin was a guest of the Eagles through a corporate sponsorship and was among a crowd of fans granted sideline privileges. The team had no official comment other than to say it typically asks guests not to wear jerseys of opposing teams.
Devlin said he wore the same jersey Sunday at Citizens Bank Park to see how Phillies fans would react.
“Some people were like, “Way to go, I love McNabb.’ Other people were like, “I don’t know about that,’ Devlin recalled. “I think most people were against the idea because it was a Redskins jersey.”
Devlin, who returned for the afternoon session wearing a bright red No. 4 Kevin Kolb jersey that he purchased for $80, said he bought a Michael Vick No. 7 Eagles jersey last year shortly after the controversial signing for the same purpose — to see how others would respond.”
