“As Mike McGlynn sees it, he’s playing Sunday. “And I’m going to play a lot,” the Eagles backup center said after Friday’s practice at the NovaCare Complex.
But the Eagles would rather he didn’t have to see an enormous amount of action in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers at Lincoln Financial Field. That’s because the expected return of Jamaal Jackson at center will be a huge lift to an offensive line that struggled without him in the two final games last season.
If McGlynn does get a lot of playing time, especially at center, that could mean Jackson isn’t fully recovered from the anterior cruciate ligament tear he suffered in his left knee last December.
But . . .”I’m playing. I’m playing,” McGlynn said earnestly. “You got to look at it that way. If you don’t [and you get in] that’s when you look bad. If you look at any other way, you are fooling yourself.””
