“One of the many pearls of wisdom Jerry Rice imparted to DeSean Jackson when they trained together in the winter of 2008 is the importance of not settling.
Rice cautioned Jackson about complacency.
“Talking to Jerry Rice when I trained for the combine, he told me, ‘You could be so good, but there’s another part of being good — it’s the great part,’ ” Jackson recalled after a recent practice.
“Once you go out there and everybody knows who you are and they start game planning for you and putting two and three people on you, then what are you going to do?””
