Many people expected Kevin Kolb to have been traded to the Arizona Cardinals by now.  But it’s Wednesday evening and he’s still an Eagle.  Various reports say to expect no deal tonight, either.  But a deal is expected soon, possibly as early as Thursday morning.

The latest rumor has the Cardinals willing to trade cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round pick for Kolb.  However, it’s also being said that the Eagles are squeezing the Cardinals for a first-rounder.  And DRC.  Wow.

If the Eagles can secure both a first-round pick and a young starting cornerback with elite speed for Kevin Kolb it would have to be considered a slam dunk fantastic deal.  Really, even a return of DRC and a second would be excellent.  The Eagles under Andy Reid have a reputation for being overly demanding, even unreasonable with their trade discussions so it will be interesting to see just how desperate the Cardinals are to improve the quarterback position.

It’s all rumor for now but it’s looking more and more like a deal is coming very soon.  Until then, we wait.

[UPDATE] Adam Caplan was on 97.5 The Fanatic Wednesday night and reported that multiple teams are requesting permission to discuss contract with Kolb ahead of a trade.  This could get interesting.

Kevin Kolb may not have traded today simply because the Eagles have been busy handling other business; specifically, the signing of their 2011 draft picks.  As of now, second-round safety Jaiquawn Jarrett, third-round cornerback Curtis Marsh, fourth-round linebacker Casey Matthews, fourth-round kicker Alex Henery, fifth-round running back Dion Lewis, fifth-round offensive guard Julian Vandervelde, sixth-round center Jason Kelce, and sixth-round linebacker Brian Rolle are all under contract, inking four-year deals.

That leaves first-round pick offensive guard Danny Watkins and seventh rounders linebacker Greg Lloyd and fullback Stanley Havili yet to sign.  With the new rookie wage scale in place it would be very surprising to see any real delay in getting these guys in.  [UPDATE] Lloyd and Havili have signed, leaving only Watkins.
