November 1 Philadelphia Inquirer:

Danny Briere will have a hearing with the NHL Monday morning to determine whether the star center will be suspended for his role in a melee Saturday late in the Flyers‘ 6-1 win over the New York Islanders.

Briere, who is tied with Claude Giroux for the team lead with six goals, received a five-minute major for cross-checking Frans Nielsen in the head, along with a game misconduct, with one minute left. Nielsen and the Flyers‘ Dan Carcillo also received 10-minute misconducts during the scrum, and Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro received two minutes for leaving the crease.

There were 120 penalty minutes assessed in the game. The Isles had 16 penalties for 73 minutes, and the Flyers had 11 penalties for 47 minutes.”
