“Once again, the Buffalo Sabres held an advantage in shots on goal in the third period only it didn’t yield enough results.
The Sabres outshot Philadelphia, 10-4, in the final period but the Flyers came away with the 3-1 win in a preseason matchup at Wells Fargo Center.
The first two Philadelphia goals came on the power play in the second period after the Flyers had entered the game 0 for 18 with the man advantage.
After a scoreless first, the Flyers took a 1-0 lead at 1:14 of the second when Nikolai Zherdev scored on a wrist shot.
At 7:43, James van Riemsdyk’s wrister beat Ryan Miller and made it 2-0 on a another power play.
Derek Roy got the Sabres on the board just 17 seconds into the third period, scoring on the backhand. Drew Stafford and Mark Parrish picked up the assists.”
