By Justin Adkins:
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Matt Walker needs hip surgery and is expected to be out at least 10-12 weeks.
Said Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren:
“Matt Walker will undergo surgery on his right hip tomorrow (Wednesday) to repair a boney impingement and a torn labrum. The surgery will take place in Nashville, Tenn. and will be performed by Dr. Thomas Byrd.”
Walker, 30, was the player acquired this past July when the Flyers traded Simon Gagne to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 6’4, 215 lb defenseman has missed the start of the regular season due to issues caused by the hip injury, which first began after a fight with Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond in the Flyers opening preseason game with New Jersey on Sept. 21.
