Flyers turn back the Islanders

March 27 Philadelphia Inquirer:

“The New York Islanders came out fighting. James van Riemsdyk retaliated by scoring. In a game that began with fisticuffs, van Riemsdyk recorded his first career hat trick and the Flyers defeated the Islanders, 4-1, at the Nassau Coliseum on Saturday night.

Flyers’ top four defensemen have played well in Pronger’s absence

March 27 Philadelphia Inquirer:

“With Chris Pronger sidelined because of a hand injury, the Flyers‘ top four defensemen have been forced to play more minutes. More minutes doesn’t always translate into more production. In the Flyers‘ case, it has. Surprisingly, the Flyers entered Saturday with a slightly higher points percentage without Pronger in the lineup than with him.

Flyers’ Briere is heating up as postseason approaches

March 27 Philadelphia Inquirer:

“Flyers forward Danny Briere set a franchise record with 30 playoff points last year (12 goals, 18 assists), and once again, he’s getting hot as the postseason nears. Entering Saturday’s game at the Nassau Coliseum against the New York Islanders, Briere had nine points (four goals, five assists) in his previous eight games.
