April 7 Camden Courier-Post:
“After seeing the Flyers lose 13 of their last 19 games, along with their hold on the Eastern Conference lead, Peter Laviolette didn’t need another distraction. So instead of letting goaltending rumors swirl with Wednesday’s return of Michael Leighton, the Flyers‘ coach made a bold and definitive statement by naming 22-year-old Russian rookie Sergei Bobrovsky the Flyers‘ starter
April 7 Philly.com columnist Phil Sheridan:
“His team has put Peter Laviolette in an absurd position. A coach’s role is to identify problems with his team and find solutions. April 6 Philly.com:
“Goalie Michael Leighton cleared re-entry waivers at noon on Wednesday and is back with the Flyers. Leighton, 29, who helped spark the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals last year, could have been claimed by another team for half his $1.6 million salary for next season. Leighton has spent most of the season at Adirondack after recovering from October back surgery. He was 14-12-3 with a 2.22 goals-against average and .926 save percentage this season with the Phantoms.”
