Talented but underachieving Russian winger Nikolai Zherdev has opted to showcase his skills at home. Several media outlets are reporting that the 26-year-old forward has signed with the Atlant Mytishchi of the Kontinental Hockey League. Zherdev, drafted fourth overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2003, has 115 goals in 421 NHL games with Columbus, the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers and had said he had interest in playing in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets.
