Pronger joins Flyers for his first practice

As usual, new Flyers captain Chris Pronger was a loud presence in the dressing room Monday. One minute, the star defenseman was playfully riding a Canadian television reporter for showing up late for practice, the next he was pretending to be mad when spotting a newspaper man standing in a doorway that leads into the locker room. Pronger was just having fun in his typical sarcastic way after making another big step toward being ready for the start of the season.

Flyers rookie center Brayden Schenn says he used to go at it pretty good with older brother Luke when their parents flooded their backyard to make a hockey rink during winters up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. “We’ll call it even,” Schenn said Monday after a Flyers practice at Skate Zone. Twenty-two months older, Luke was drafted fifth overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008. A year later, Brayden was drafted fifth overall by the Los Angeles Kings.
