The Flyers have inched that much closer to attaining the elusive Stanley Cup, signing 2011 fourth-round draft pick Marcel Noebels to an entry-level contract.
Taken in the fourth round of the 2011 draft, the 6-3, 200 pound winger had 28 goals and 26 assists in 66 games last year with the Western Hockey League’s Seattle Thunderbirds.
The deal signed by the 19 year-old German does not count towards the 50 maximum contracts the Flyers are able to retain, assuming Noebels doesn’t make the team out of camp.
Noebels played for Germany at the 2011 World Junior Championships and at the 2009 World Under-18 Championships
The Flyers have also signed Phantoms forward Jon Kalinski to a two-way, $650,000 qualifying offer, as disclosed via tweet by RDS hockey reporter Renaud P. Lavoie. Kalinski is likely to battle Ben Holmstrom in camp for a spot on the big roster.
