Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren has announced that the team signed forward Wayne Simmonds to a multi-year contract.  No details on dollars are available yet.

Simmonds was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings, along with super-prospect Brayden Schenn, in the blockbuster Mike Richards trade.

The 22 year-old forward had been a restriced free agent.  He had 14 goals and 16 assists in 80 games last season with the Kings, his third in the NHL.  Simmonds was a second round pick of the Kings in the 2007 draft.  Overall, he had 39 goals, 93 points and 264 penalty minutes in 240 regular-season games.  He also played in all 12 Kings playoff games over the past two years.
