September 14 Camden Courier-Post:
“After weeks of scrimmaging with players he hoped would soon become teammates, Bill Guerin agreed to a professional tryout contract with the Flyers, general manager Paul Holmgren said Monday night.
“Bill has been a very good player for a long time in our league,” Holmgren said. “We are happy to have him in camp.”
Guerin, 39, scored 21 goals and recorded 45 points in 78 games for the Penguins last season, his 17th NHL season. Guerin’s tryout contract does not ensure him a spot on the Flyers’ roster, which has 23 players and is about $877,000 below the salary cap.
Guerin, who made $2 million last season, told the Courier-Post he is “flexible” with his salary demands.”
