November 13 Camden Courier-Post:
“After spending most of his NHL career playing alongside Simon Gagne, Richards has spent much of this season adjusting to new linemates. He began the season with wingers Dan Carcillo and Jeff Carter and is now centering what can be considered a third line with wingers Nik Zherdev and Andreas Nodl.
Since being united on Nov. 6, the line has produced five goals and is a plus-9 in three games.
Richards said it took some time to adjust to Zherdev, whose east-west style drastically differs from Richards’ straightforward north-south game.
“But as I’m playing with him more and more, it’s a lot easier to read the kinds of plays he’s trying to do. He finds quiet areas of the ice where there’s open space. Like a lot of European players he’d rather control the puck than dump it in and I like that style. Hopefully, we continue to play with each other and get familiar with each other a little more.”
Richards said that since the NHL’s crackdown on head shots he’s noticed a change in players’ behavior on the ice.”
