Good news — Scott Hartnell and Jeff Carter will not need surgery for their lingering hip issues.
“Both were checked for hip issues and neither will require anything done surgically,” said Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren, per csnphilly.com. Also, Carter won’t need surgery on the knee that had him miss multiple playoff games.
This news bucks the recent trend of Flyers players going under the knife, with Mike Richards (wrist), Chris Pronger (herniated disc), Kris Versteeg (sports hernia), Michael Leighton (labrum), Andrej Meszaros (wrist), and Blair Betts (finger) all having successful surgeries this past week.
All of them, both the operated-on and otherwise, should be ready to go for training camp in September.
