February 6 Philadelphia Inquirer:
“When they roll the credits on the Flyers, names such as Andrej Meszaros and Darroll Powe are typically reserved for the bottom and in small print.
Sure, their teammates and coaches appreciate the value of Meszaros, the third-pair defenseman, and Powe, a speedy fourth-line winger.
But on occasion, a little glory finds such honest, diligent players, and Saturday night was one of those occasions in the Flyers’ 3-1 win over the persistent Dallas Stars at the Wells Fargo Center.
The win was the 12th in the last 15 games for the Flyers, who remained atop the Eastern Conference. Brian Boucher made certain that goals by Meszaros and Powe – and, later, the 25th of the season by Jeff Carter – were enough with an excellent performance in the nets.
Rookie goalie Sergei Bobrovsky had started the previous four games and six of the last seven, but Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said Boucher deserved a start for his solid performance in relief of Bobrovsky in Tuesday’s 4-0 loss at Tampa. Boucher showed his appreciation with 30 saves. It was his sixth win with 30 or more saves.”
