Phillies manager Charlie Manuel has been fined and suspended one game for “aggressive arguing and inappropriate contact” with homeplate umpire CB Bucknor.
The incident occurred during the tenth inning of Tuesday night’s game. Bucknor, well known for a horribly inconsistent strike zone and poor umpiring overall, alleges that Manuel bumped him in the head with the brim of Manuel’s hat.
Hopefully the supposed contact was sufficient to correct whatever wiring is wrong in Bucknor’s head.
Charlie will serve the suspension immediately, meaning he will miss Thursday’s game at Pittsburgh.
