Per Todd Zolecki, Domonic Brown and his broken hand are heading up to Philadelphia today.
Brown will see noted hand specialist Randall Culp on Monday, and if it’s determined that the injury requires surgery the procedure will be performed on Tuesday.
Surgery is likely and recovery time is projected as anywhere from 3-6 weeks to around two months. The injury is apparently considered relatively common, but there is speculation that regaining full strength and power could take a year or more. For Brown, who is working on developing his batting stance while also trying to figure out major league pitching, this injury is a major setback.
Hopefully his youth will serve him well, allowing his rehab and strength recovery to go as quickly as possible. With Chase Utley’s knee its own little horror story, the Phillies lineup is potentially going to need all the help it can get.
