The Phillies have announced Domonic Brown had successful surgery on his right hand Tuesday morning. Hand specialist Dr. Randall Culp removed Brown’s hamate bone.
Phillies trainer Scott Sheridan advised that expected recovery time is 4-6 weeks, confirming speculation on how long Brown would be out. He said Brown will wear a splint for 3-4 weeks, with stitches coming out after 10 days.
It’s interesting to note that Sheridan also said Brown could be swinging a bat again in about two weeks. Brown will need to rehab intently to build his strength back.
Of course, no update was given on Chase Utley and his knee from hell, though it should be noted that Utley is taking pre-game batting practice today with the rest of the team.
The Phillies will take on the Orioles today at 1:05 pm. Follow the action in the PSC Phillies Gameday Thread.
