The Phillies have officially announced that Domonic Brown will have surgery on his broken hand Tuesday in Philadelphia.
The procedure will be performed by noted hand specalist Randall Culp.
Recovery time is expected to be 4-6 weeks, though it remains to be seen how long it will take Brown to regain his strength and power once the bone heals.
Just kidding. There is no update. At least that’s what a Phillies media relations person told reporters today. So it’s still wait-and-see at this point. It could take a few days to see how the knee responds to the cortisone injection, so stay tuned, of course.
Until then some of Utley’s teammates spoke out regarding the knee situation, per the Zo Zone.
“That’s what worries me,” Placido Polanco said. “I was talking to my wife the other day. I said, ‘Man, that guy is a gamer. He’s tough. He’s got to be really hurting to not be playing.’ That’s why I’m a little worried. But I’m not a doctor. I don’t know how bad it is. I just hope it’s nothing bad.”
“Chase is a guy who’s out there every day and wants to play,” Ryan Howard said. “You hope it’s not something that is overly serious. You hope it’s something that goes away, so he come in here and get some work to get ready for the season.”
