DUNEDIN, Fla. — The Phillies scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning on a bases-loaded walk by left-hander Wildredo Ledezma in a 13-7 victory over the Blue Jays on Tuesday afternoon at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.
Phillies left fielder Raul Ibanez went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in the victory. Philadelphia also received three hits from right fielder Ben Francisco, including a solo homer. In a five-run eighth, Wilson Valdez ripped a three-run double.
The late rally overshadowed a rough start by Blue Jays starter Jesse Litsch. The 26-year-old allowed four earned runs on nine hits while striking out four over 3 1/3 innings. He threw 72 pitches, 48 for strikes.
In a losing effort, Toronto outfielder Rajai Davis went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBIs. Davis has a team-high three homers, all of which have come while he was leading off.
Toronto also received a two-run triple from top prospect Anthony Gose in the bottom of the seventh that momentarily gave the club a 7-6 lead. Left fielder Travis Snider added a pair of RBI singles, while first baseman David Cooper recorded a sacrifice fly for his second RBI of the spring.
Phillies starter Joe Blanton allowed seven hits, but limited the Blue Jays to just two runs while striking out three over four innings.
