It could be the Phillies‘ inability to hit with runners in scoring position, and Saturday they left 12 runners on base.

It could be the trials and tribulations of their starters — particularly the back end of the rotation. Saturday, Joe Blanton put the Phillies in an early hole by allowing five hits in a three-run first inning.

Or maybe it’s the bullpen. Brad Lidge was once again brutal in his latest save opportunity — one that ended with Ryan Zimmerman’s three-run homer, which sealed the Phillies‘ second straight loss, 7-5, to Washington.”
