Despite Monday night’s loss to the St Louis Cardinals, the Phils clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Phils wrapped up the best record in the league when the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Cubs on Monday. Milwaukee’s record now sits at 90-64 with eight games remaining. At 98-54, the Phillies are guaranteed at least a tie for the best record, but they hold the tiebreaker via winning the season series with the Brewers, 4-3.
And thanks to the NL’s victory in the All-Star Game, if (when) the Phillies make it to the World Series they will have home field advantage there as well.
With one more win or Brewers loss, the Phillies will own the best record free and clear. Either way, the road to the World Series goes through Citizens Bank Park.
