October 11 Toronto Sun:

Philadelphia Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin is ready to toss his cap into the Blue Jays managerial ring.

“I’d like to consider it, not that I have heard anything from them yet,” said Mackanin, 51, before the Phillies met the Cincinnati Reds in Game 3 of the National League division series.

A second baseman, Mackanin played nine seasons in the majors with the Montreal Expos, Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers and the Phillies before two stints as interim manager with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2005 and the Cincinnati Reds in 2007.

Taking over for fired manager Lloyd McClendon with the Pirates, Mackanin guided the Bucs to a 12-14 record the final 26 games in 2005.”
