Phillies scouts in final prep for Monday’s draft

June 3 CSN Philly:

Sometime Friday night, Phillies scouts will take a little break from their round-the-clock meetings and flip on the television in their war room at Citizens Bank Park. On the screen will be a reminder of why they spend all those nights on the road in search of talent that can help the team win championships at the big-league level.  The reminder’s name is Cole Hamels.

Phils get bats back in order

June 3 Camden Courier-Post columnist Martin Frank:

Shane Victorino will come to Pittsburgh today riding on his white-winged horse ready to save the day.  When he is activated off the disabled list, as expected, the Phillies offense will be whole for the first time this season.  It would be easy to say that we should expect nothing less than the vaunted Phillies offense from 2007-09, when they bashed their way to the division title, the World Series championship and another World Series appearance.

Phillies move prospect Singleton back to 1B

June 3 CSN Philly:

Here’s an interesting bit of news from the Phillies’ minor-league system:  The organization has moved top position-player prospect Jonathan Singleton back to first base, his original position. Singleton had been playing left field since the Florida instructional league last fall and he had been playing the position this season at Single A Clearwater.  A 19-year-old product of the 2009 draft, Singleton had been moved to left field because his path to the majors was blocked by Ryan Howard, who is signed through 2016.
