Lee roughed up as Phillies pounded by Nationals

June 1 CSN Philly:

Cliff Lee began Tuesday night’s postgame interview session with a belch. Hopefully it tasted better than the pitching performance he delivered.  Lee took a beating from the second-worst hitting club in the majors. The Washington Nationals, who entered the game hitting .230 as a team, pounded the lefthander for seven hits and six runs in 5 1/3 innings en route to a 10-2 win. Second baseman Danny Espinosa homered twice off Lee. One was a three-run shot in the third inning.

Kendrick to start for Phils Saturday vs. Pirates

June 1 CSN Philly:

Kyle Kendrick will be the Phillies’ starting pitcher Saturday night at Pittsburgh, pitching coach Rich Dubee said on Tuesday afternoon.  Kendrick will take the place of Vance Worley, who was sent back to Triple A Lehigh Valley to build arm strength on Monday. Worley is scheduled to pitch Saturday for the IronPigs.

Polanco leads NL third basemen in all-star voting

June 1 CSN Philly:

Placido Polanco is leading National League third basemen in all-star voting, according to the first batch of results released by Major League Baseball on Tuesday.  Polanco, who ranks fourth in the NL with 66 hits and ninth in batting average at .317, had 724,724 votes. Atlanta’s Chipper Jones ranked second at third base with 540,168 votes.

Brown beginning to look comfortable with Phils

June 1 CSN Philly:

Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of time. Not a lot, like a year or so, just a little bit. Sometimes just that little bit of time is all that’s needed for the talent to catch up to the hype.  At least that’s the way it seems with Dom Brown lately. A little bit of a chance and some patience has Brown swinging the hottest stick on the club these days.

Victorino goes hitless for Double A Reading

June 1 CSN Philly:

Shane Victorino went went 0 for 4 with a strikeout Tuesday in his scheduled rehab game with Double A Reading.  Victorino plans to play with Reading again Wednesday and Thursday and if all goes well, he will be back in the Phillies’ lineup for Friday night’s matchup against Pittsburgh.”
