By Justin Adkins:
Per Jon Heyman’s Twitter, the Phillies have called the Nationals about a potential trade for outfielder Michael Morse.
Morse, 6-5 230, is a solid player who had 293 at bats last season with Washington, hitting .289 with an OPS of .871, 15 homers and 12 doubles. The Phillies likely view the soon-to-be 29 year-old righty as a quality platoon option for their lefty heavy lineup. Last season, Morse went .295 with an outstanding .999 OPS with eight homers in 92 at bats against left handed pitching.
Heyman says the Nats are unlikely to move Morse to the Phillies. Not exactly going out on a limb there. Washington likely wouldn’t want to further strengthen the best team in the NL East, possibly all of baseball.
For a Phillies team with an excess of pitching and a need for more right handed bench options, an offer of maybe a Kyle Kendrick could possibly intrigue the Nats enough to convince them to deal.
If that happens, expect another angry video from those two Youtube video-making Nat fan losers (the hilariously lame vids have been yanked unfortunately). But check this thread on the PSC Phillies message board for more hilarious pics of the hefty hater.
