It’s an exciting day for Phillies fans anxious to get their first look at their own super prospect.
Per Jim Salisbury, the Phillies have called up 5-tool outfielder Domonic Brown for tonight’s game and will immediately insert him into the starting lineup.
This move is a direct result of the news that Shane Victorino will be placed on the Disabled List.
Many have assumed that an opening in the outfield would happen with the Phillies possible trading of Jayson Werth. It will be interesting to see how this injury to Victorino affects the Phillies’ thinking as the trade deadline approaches this Saturday.
It’s expected that Brown will play right field and Jayson Werth will slide over to center. In 28 games at AAA-Lehigh this season, Brown is hitting .346, with 5 home runs, 21 RBI’s, 5 stolen bases, and has an incredible OPS of .951.
Per Todd Zolecki, Brown will wear number 9. No word yet on the lineup.
