Could Allen Iverson be the latest big name added to Sunday’s star-studded exhibition in Philadelphia? A source with knowledge of the game rosters says Iverson is “supposed” to play Sunday in a game expected to feature LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, among others. When reached via email Wednesday, game organizer Rahim Thompson said “no comment” when asked about the possibility of Iverson playing.

NBA labor negotiations expected to continue Thursday

Attorneys for the NBA and the players union met Wednesday in advance of a session Thursday that is expected to include NBA Commissioner David Stern and union head Billy Hunter, according to a basketball official who was not authorized to speak publicly. The owners locked out players on July 1 and the two sides have failed to make progress toward a new labor agreement.”

With time running short on efforts to preserve an on-time start to the NBA season, the league and players’ association will have a staff-level meeting Wednesday with the hopes that it will set the stage for the next round of bargaining, multiple sources told The meeting Wednesday in Manhattan will not feature the heavy hitters for either side — no Billy Hunter or Derek Fisher for the union, and no David Stern for the league, sources said. Some key figures involved in the talks requested this format, which will consist mostly of lawyers and staff for both sides.

The NBA players and owners are trying to set up their next bargaining session this week. They are hoping to meet Wednesday and/or Thursday in New York City, according to sources close to the situation. With the scheduled start of training camp just two weeks away, both sides are feeling a heightened sense of urgency. While tough rhetoric has come from both camps, sources say neither wants to postpone the start of the regular season.
