Collins says 76ers aren’t shopping Iguodala

June 25 Wilmington News Journal:

By next Thursday, 76ers coach Doug Collins will have criss-crossed the country, meeting with every player on the team in advance of the potential NBA lockout that could begin as soon as July 1.  Collins’ last day of meetings will be in Los Angeles with Andre Iguodala. One of the subjects he plans to talk about is the trade rumors that have popped up over the last several weeks involving the Sixers’ swingman.

Sixers still need to make a deal for big scorer

June 26 Wilmington News Journal:

The 76ers didn’t make a big splash at the NBA draft on Thursday. They still have Andre Iguodala. And coach Doug Collins was saying that the Sixers might have the perimeter scorers they need in 21-year-old Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner, who is entering his second season.Somewhere, you can hear a collective groan from the fan base that desperately wants a 20-point per game scorer like Golden State’s Monta Ellis.

NBA lockout could do considerable damage to gains made this season

June 26 Denver Post:

About 50 NBA players attended Friday’s collective bargaining negotiating session with owners, and many were wearing T-shirts that read “Stand.”  But if a lockout lasts into next season, how well will the league be able to stand?  Interest in the NBA this season reached heights it hadn’t in recent years. Television ratings in the playoffs were up across the board, without benefit of a team in the New York or Los Angeles markets making it past the conference semifinals. Even the NBA draft saw significant ratings increases. Fans flocked back to the NBA.
