Source: Comcast-Spectacor in talks to sell 76ers

June 8 CSN Philly:

After a season in which Sixers fans were encouraged by the resurgence of their pro basketball team led by their passionate head coach, Doug Collins, there surprisingly appears to be a changing of the guard in store for the franchise.  According to a source, Comcast-Spectacor is in talks to sell the team to a group led by Joshua Harris, co-founder of Apollo Global Management. Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko released the following statement Tuesday afternoon.

The Philadelphia 76ers could be for sale.  Comcast-Spectacor and chairman Ed Snider have owned the Sixers since 1996, but an executive confirms Tuesday there are ongoing discussions about the future of the team.

The college kids were long gone, having had an exit interview with the Sixers’ director of scouting Courtney Witte before talking with the press and exchanging information about the next stop on the pre-draft workout circuit. New Jersey was a popular stop for a few of the prospects. The same goes for New York and Cleveland.
