Former Eagles LB's coach Bill Shuey

By Justin Adkins:

The Eagles defensive coaching overhaul is nearly complete.

The team have already fired defensive coordinator Sean McDermott and defensive line coach Rory Segrest.  They allowed secondary coach Dick Jauron to leave for the Browns.  And now they’ve fired linebackers coach Bill Shuey, completely dismantling the entire framework of the defensive coaching staff.

With the way the Eagles defense has recently performed, cleaning house is a good next step.

Shuey was informed yesterday that his contract would not be renewed.  He had been with the Eagles for the past decade.

“It’s been a real tough situation,” Shuey said. “I appreciate the opportunity I was given to coach there for 10 years.”

The only remaining defensive coaches are former Eagles — assistant linebacker coach Mike Caldwell and defensive quality control coach Mike Zordich.
