Yes, Randy Moss just supposedly retired, but what that really means is he feels he didn’t get offered enough money to play and wants to have his ego stroked a bit.
What better team then to offer him a now-patented one-year deal to come play on a Dream Team?
So it’s no surprise that the rumor surfaced that the Eagles are pursuing Moss. Per Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, the Eagles made Moss an offer to try to get him to un-retire. The Eagles actually tried to lure Moss away from New England back before the 2008 season.
A healthy and motivated Moss would be one hell of an interesting addition to this team.
It’s possible that any offer to Moss is just a hedge against Jeremy Maclin’s mysterious illness and DeSean Jackson’s holdout. While both should be ready to go by the time the season starts, it’s never a bad idea to have a Plan B.
And what a fallback it would be if Moss can still play even close to his former level. He’s probably more naturally talented than anyone in the NFL, maybe ever, though his work ethic and attitude have always seemed to hold him back. What better team than the Eagles, aka the Home For Wayward NFLers, for Moss to attempt to put an exclamation point on his career with?
