The Eagles have a young and talented group of wide receivers – and DeSean Jackson thinks Plaxico Burress would make it even better. In an interview that aired Friday with ESPN Radio New York’s Stephen A. Smith — before Jackson’s controversial slur became widely publicized — Jackson said he caught up with Burress while the former Giants wideout was in California. Once Burress was released from prison earlier this summer, rumors abounded linking him with the Eagles – especially after he was seen donning a Phillies hat on multiple occasions.

Teams throughout the NFL are anticipating the near-immediate arrival of players at team facilities within hours of a new collective bargaining agreement being reached, officials from several teams said Monday. Though it is unknown if teams will be able to stage any type of minicamps or formal on-field workouts before training camps start, teams are prepared for players’ arrivals. Teams are eager to see all players, particularly rookies and those coming off injuries.”

The seventh week of the latest phase of NFL labor negotiations kicked off Monday at a Manhattan law firm, with the status of the preseason hanging in the balance. Legal teams and staff for the owners and players met separately in the morning hours, then came together for joint meetings at 2:30 p.m. The session broke about five hours later. The format for this week is similar to the previous two, with language and details handled by the lawyers earlier in the week, and owners and players joining later to negotiate core issues.
